Noah Centineo will be returning to Netflix with a brand-new series, and you’ll be seeing the actor like you’ve never seen him before. You fell in love with him in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, but now he’s starring in the new series The Recruit, coming to Netflix in December 2022.

Since his breakout in the Netflix original romantic comedy trilogy, Centineo has been the young Hollywood heartthrob that everyone has wanted a piece of. The actor made his big screen debut in 2019’s Charlie’s Angles and will next be seen the in the DC film Black Adam.

But first up, Noah Centineo’s coming back to where it all started with his new Netflix spy thriller series. When can you add the highly anticipated series to your watch list and what is it about? Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming series!

The Recruit release date

During Netflix’s 2022 TUDUM global fan event, Noah Centineo was featured to announce the title of the series. As the star announced at the event, the series is called The Recruit and fans can add the series to their watch lists when it premieres on Dec. 16, 2022.

Production on the series was said to have commenced in the fall of 2021 in Canada, as Centineo was filming Black Adam until August 2021. The first season will contain eight episodes.

To All the Boys breakout star Noah Centineo executive produces The Recruit and headlines the series as Owen Hendricks. Following Centineo’s casting as the lead of the series in April 2021, Variety reported in November 2021 that Netflix had added seven additional cast members to the main cast.

The Recruit synopsis

Centineo’s previous work on Netflix has mostly been in romantic comedy movies like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Perfect Date, and Sierra Burgess Is a Loser. But for the CIA drama series, he appears to be going into full action-drama star.

Here’s the official logline via Netflix:

"“Centineo stars as Owen Hendricks, a young CIA lawyer whose first week on the job gets off to a rocky start. After discovering a threatening letter by former asset Max Meladze (Laura Haddock), who’s planning to expose the agency unless they exonerate her of a serious crime, Owen finds himself entangled in a dangerous and absurd world of power politics and mischievous players. As if the stakes weren’t already high enough, he must now travel the world in hopes of completing his assignment and making a mark at the CIA.”"

On Nov. 16, on month ahead of the release, Netflix dropped the official trailer for the new series. The trailer touts the series comes from the creator of The Rookie and the director of The Bourne Identity, and if the show is anything like those two titles, it’s a must-watch.

In the trailer, we get our first look at Noah Centineo as bumbling newbie CIA lawyer Owen Hendricks, and fans of the actor are for sure going to fall in love with his new character. He’s way in over his head with his latest case, and it’s apparent by the thrilling official trailer.
