The Mother is an action film directed by Niki Caro from a screenplay co-written by Misha Green, Andrea Berloff, and Peter Craig. You might know Caro from her work on the 2020 live-action movie Mulan. Berloff is known for co-writing the biographical drama Straight Outta Compton. Green was the showrunner of HBO’s Lovecraft Country, and Craig co-wrote the 2022 superhero film The Batman.

Vertigo Entertainment and Nuyorican Productions produced the film. Nuyorican Productions is a production company co-founded by Lopez and Benny Medina.

The Mother synopsis

The action film follows a deadly female assassin (Jennifer Lopez) who’s been on the run for years but is forced to come out of hiding to protect the daughter she left behind from dangerous assailants.

On April 11, one month ahead of the Mother’s Day weekend release of the new movie, Netflix unveiled the explosive and captivating full trailer for the movie. Lopez shared the official trailer on her social media accounts directly to her fans, who will surely be tuning in on May 12.

The trailer offers viewers extended insight into what to expect from the action drama, which looks like a non-stop thrill ride. Lopez plays a mother tasked with doing whatever it takes to protect her daughter, whom she was forced to leave behind as a child. While J.Lo might be known for her romantic comedies as of late, the trailer depicts the actress getting back into her action roots, just like in the movie Enough.
