The series takes us into the unfortunate “murderous spree” he went on for over a decade. In real life, Dahmer killed and dismembered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991.

His later murders also involved necrophilia, cannibalism, and the permanent preservation of body parts. Another aspect to the show is the systemic racism of the police, which allowed Dahmer to get away with it for so long, according to Netflix.

But many years before he was caught, the third episode shows that the serial killer was discharged from the army, much to the disappointment of his father. Nothing seems to be going right in his life, and that was just one aspect of it.

Was Jeffrey Dahmer kicked out of the army?

Yes, in real life Dahmer was kicked out of the army. According to Biography, he was stationed in Germany for a time. But he was later discharged because of excessive drinking. He enlisted in the United States Army in January 1979 where he trained as a medical specialist. While in Germany, he served as a combat medic.

Then in March 1981, he was let go from service due to his drinking. Surprisingly, he received an honorable discharge because his superiors didn’t believe his problems would effect civilian life. Following his discharge, he went back to Ohio. But while there he was arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct, where he was fined and received a suspended jail sentence, Biography reports.
