We’re now just days away from the release of Cobra Kai season 5, and fans are so excited to jump back into the karate universe to find out what the dojos are up to. It looks like Terry Silver will be the big bad this season with John Kreese behind bars, and he’s got big plans. Here at Netflix Life, we got to watch the season early, and without giving away any spoilers we’ll just say you won’t want to miss this one.

Cobra Kai was created back in 2018, airing on YouTube Red before Netflix bought the rights. The lighthearted show serves as a sequel to the Karate Kid movies, taking place about three decades later. Actors Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Martin Kove, Dallas Dupree Young, and others reprise their roles.

If you have some questions about the show and want everything you need to know about season 5, we’ve got you. Here’s the full scoop on the upcoming installment.

Cobra Kai season 4 ending explained

The final scenes of Cobra Kai season 4 are explosive to say the least. In the finale, we get to see the All Valley tournament where Cobra Kai came out victorious because Terry Silver cheats and bribed the ref. Sam was supposed to win against Tory, not the other way around. Tory discovers what happened and is disappointment, confused on what she should do. And that’s not the only bad thing Silver does in the finale.

Silver also frames John Kreese, as we see in a flashback scene that Silver beat up Stingray in exchange for a membership with Cobra Kai. When Stingray is in the hospital, he says Kreese was the one who attacked him, and Kreese is arrested on charges of aggravated assault and attempted murder.

As for Miguel, he leaves the All Valley early (and doesn’t even get to see Sam fight!) and decides he’s going to find his real father. Johnny has been a major father figure in his life, but he now feels like he needs to figure out where he came from.

In the very last scene of Cobra Kai season 4, Daniel is greeted by a welcome guest, someone fans of the Karate Kid movies should know — Chozen! It seems Daniel has enlisted his help to take down Cobra Kai in the next season.

What is Cobra Kai season 5 about?

Coming off that epic ending in season 4, there’s a whole lot that’s got to go down in Cobra Kai season 5. Will Johnny and Daniel take Cobra Kai down once and for all? We’ll have to wait to find out, but here’s the official synopsis for the new season from Netflix:

"Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help."

Is Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) in Cobra Kai season 5?

Despite Miguel leaving California to go find his dad in Mexico at the end of season 4, he’s still a central character in Cobra Kai season 5. As we see in the trailer, he’s featured in plenty of scenes, which is a relief, because he’s such a great character. Like with previous seasons, he’ll have another strong storyline this time around.

As you’d imagine, the Cobra Kai season 5 trailer is absolutely jam-packed with action from start to finish. Watch it below as you get ready for the new episodes:

Is Cobra Kai season 6 happening?

At this time, Cobra Kai has not been renewed for any more seasons beyond season 5. However, that doesn’t mean season 6 won’t happen. In fact, creator Jon Hurwitz stated that the crew has hoped there would be at least six seasons, but nothing has been confirmed yet. We don’t see any reason why there wouldn’t be a sixth season if the cast and crew are down for it, considering Cobra Kai is a staple show for Netflix.

Once we find out if Cobra Kai is renewed or ending, we’ll be the first to let you know!
