At Geeked Week 2022, Netflix confirmed Barbarians season 2 (or Barbarians II as it is officially titled) is coming later this year and in August, Netflix released the first posters and release date for the new season.
The show takes place during the Roman occupation of Magna Germania in 9 A.D. when the oppressed Germanic tribes came together to halt the Roman Empire’s advancement. Every chapter features an incredibly riveting fictional account of the events leading up to the legendary Battle of Teutoburg Forest that need up changing the course of history.
The attention to detail with the props, costumes, and set design is magnificent, and the well-crafted fight sequences are outstanding, making it understandable why the Netflix original international series has become such a hit with subscribers around the globe.
Here’s everything we know about the new season.

Laurence Rupp will most assuredly come back as Arminius for Barbarians season 2. And it wouldn’t feel right without Thusnelda returning to the fold played by Jeanne Goursaud.

Barbarians season 2 synopsis
Netflix has not released anything in regards to a synopsis for Barbarians season 2, and it’s expected that one will not arrive anytime soon. These are usually put out much closer to the release date of the new season, and Netflix will probably take the same strategy.
History buffs know that the Battle of Teutoburg Forest had a major impact on how the Roman conquest handled things moving forward, leaving the door open for a lot of intriguing options for Barbarians season 2. It would also be fascinating to learn how the anti-Roman alliance Varus proposes to Maroboduss, the king of the Marcomanni, among many other things, making the next chapter something Netflix shouldn’t make subscribers wait too long to see.
Barbarians II is coming October 21 to Netflix.
