What is Instant Dream Home about on Netflix?

Bring out the tissues because Netflix’s Instant Dream Home will have you in tears. So what is the new series about? The show synopsis on Netflix reads: “A team of rapid-fire renovators takes big risks and makes painstaking plans to transform families’ homes from top to bottom in just 12 hours.”

The team consists of interior designer Adair Curtis, carpenter Erik Curtis, landscaper Nick Cutsumpas, special projects expert Paige Mobley, and lastly a familiar face from Netflix’s Emmy-winning series Orange Is the New Black, Danielle Brooks as host.

Instant Dream Home consists of Brooks being helped by an “accomplice” to remove the families from their homes for the day. These families were nominated by loved ones for various reasons. Health, financial, or other circumstances that did not allow these families to make the most out of their living space.

How does Instant Dream Home work?

Once the accomplice has taken the family out of the house, the crew swoops in from all angles. The goal is to make this renovation happen in 12 hours before the family comes back home. If you have ever done any work at all in your home, you can attest to this time limit being an almost impossible task to do.

However, the Instant Dream Home dream team seems to get it done. The emotional response from the homeowners at the end of the day, make all the screams, broken items, and stress worth it.

Some of the audience have shared their thoughts about how unrealistic the show seems. Some people have mentioned planning and permits, which are very valid opinions. They share their discontentment at a family leaving their home one way and coming home to another place on which they had very little to no opinion, or so the show makes it seem.

The show takes you through an emotional rollercoaster as they show you the family stories, how they got where they are, the makeover crews hardships through out the renovation, and finally the end result of the makeover with the family’s reactions.
