Netflix true crime docuseries Sins of Our Mother trailer, release date, synopsis and more

Skye Borgman is on a roll this year as she is about to deliver another true crime documentary for Netflix. You’ve probably already watched her previous projects, Girl in the Picture, I Just Killed My Dad and Abducted in Plain Sight, now get ready for Borgman’s take on Lori Vallow in the three-part docuseries Sins of Our Mother.

Arriving this September, Sins of Our Mother digs into the dark story of Lori Vallow, a woman once thought to be a loving wife, devoted mother and woman of God. But now Lori is waiting to stand trial for conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree murder in connection with multiple deaths, including that of her two youngest children, her fourth husband and her fifth husband’s wife.

If you’re someone who likes true crime, odds are you’re well-versed in this case, which has been making headlines for a couple of years now. Lori is set to stand trial in January 2023. The docuseries will provide exclusive insight into the Vallow family as Lori’s surviving son Colby steps forward for the first time to discuss his mother and his experience.

A Lightbox Production, Sins of Our Mother is executive produced by Jonathan Chinn, Simon Chinn, James Haygood and Todd Garner, with Borgman directing.

All three episodes of the docuseries will be available to stream on Netflix starting September 14, 2022. The first two episodes are 50 minutes and the third is 39 minutes.

As mentioned above, the docuseries will feature dual narratives as we explore Lori Vallow’s past, and Colby’s upbringing. But it will also examine the present-day narrative as Lori was brought to justice and now she currently awaits trial. In April 2022, Lori pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought up against her, including the murder of her two children, Tylee and JJ.
