By Diana Nosa
We know, we know. You’re curious to know why Demon Slayer season 2 has not been added to Netflix yet.
While we don’t know the answer to your burning question, we do know that you may, most likely, have to wait until early 2023 for the sophomore season to release on the streaming site. But don’t worry. During your wait, we want to give you a few recommendations that we think you would like. Not only because all these anime are very entertaining but because they are all just like Demon Slayer.
We’ve compiled a list of five anime that is sure to remind you of Tanjiro Kamado and his demon younger sister, Nezuko. Some titles will remind you of the plight Tanjiro went through in order to become strong enough to slay a few Upper-Rank demons, while others will make you want to pick up your sword and slay some demons yourself. Some may even give you a soft spot for supernatural entities. Either way, we believe they’re all worth the watch.
Netflix anime like Demon Slayer
Without further ado, here are five Netflix anime like Demon Slayer to check out while you wait for season 2!
B: The Beginning (2019)
Episode Count: 18
With a violent serial killer on the loose, talented investigators are going to have to think of new ways to find the culprit before he takes even more innocent lives. Hunting down the last locations of the killer and analyzing his behavior are strategies that may not cut it, as paranormal activities involving demi-humans are happening behind the scenes. Still, perhaps uncovering the truth behind these supernatural beings will lead Keith Flick, the lead investigator, to the killers. Perhaps uncovering the truth will lead Keith to his premature death. Anything’s possible.
The story of B: The Beginning is similar to Demon Slayer in that the line between human and otherworldly beings is blurred. Just like Tanjiro, maybe Keith can find a way to work with these demi-humans to achieve his greater goal.
Black Butler (2008)
Episode Count: 18
Tanjiro and Nezuko’s human-demon bond may be strong, but it’s safe to say that the human-demon contract between Ciel Phantomhive and Sebastian Michaelis is just as strong, if not stronger. Ciel and Sebastian are the protagonists of the 2008 series, Black Butler, and it’s because of their unconditional relationship that many anime fans always find their way back to this series. What’s more, this anime is full of epic fights, toe-curling drama, and even a few spicy…escapades, all of which make this series that much more entertaining.
Undoubtedly, Black Butler is an anime classic in the same sense that Demon Slayer is. Hopefully, you find even more similarities in these shows.
Castlevania (2017)
Episode Count: 32
Castlevania takes demon slaying to a completely different level!
In this animated series, our protagonist, Dracula, is determined to erase humanity to avenge his late wife. To do so, he unleashes otherworldly demons in every land he touches, all to satiate his eternal fury. His son, Alucard, is woken up from his lengthy slumber by Sypha Belnades, a sorceress able to control the elements, and Trevor Belmont, a mighty monster hunter, to find a way to defeat the legendary vampire before he overtakes the world. Together, the trio attempts to do the impossible.
Needless to say, this series is just like Demon Slayer, in that they both have humans fighting against demons. However, it’s also just like the shounen series when it comes to its uplifting notion that humans will always find a way to remain hopeful no matter how bad it gets.
Devilman Crybaby (2018)
Episode Count: 10
Through a series of unfortunate events, a timid young boy acquires immense strength similar to that of a devil (or demon). His life is immediately uprooted, as others seek to put an end to this half-human, half-devil breed, but thankfully, he has his childhood best friend by his side to guide him. This is the story of Devilman Crybaby.
Now, this isn’t your typical dark hero story, for this anime is filled with betrayal, gore, and everything wicked you can think of. Truth be told, it makes Demon Slayer look like a peaceful title. Still, if you’ve been searching for a series that includes a war on demons and a show that’ll have you glued to your seat, here it is.
Dragon’s Dogma (2020)
Episode Count: 7
In many ways, Tanjiro Kamado is the chosen one; the only person that can truly put an end to the chaos and bloodshed between humans and demons. The same attributes go for Dragon’s Doma‘s protagonist, Arisen.
After losing both his wife and his unborn child to an evil dragon, Arisen vows to slay the monster, even if it costs him his life. He’s accompanied by a warrior, Hannah, who aids him in his journey by fighting alongside him as well as offering moral support. But Arisen and Hannah are going to need more than just power. They’ll also need wisdom, luck, and, most importantly, stamina, for the many demons and beasts they’ll have to fight to get to the evil dragon are much more than they could have ever imagined.
Perhaps Arisen and Tanjiro are one and the same. Maybe streaming every episode will tell you whether our comparison was accurate.
Whether you know of these anime titles or whether this is the first you’re hearing about them, we hope that you decide to stream all these wonderful Netflix titles when you get the chance. They’re sure to keep you company as you wait for us to update you on when Demon Slayer season 2 is finally on the way.
