Sweet Magnolias season 3 release: When could season 3 arrive on Netflix?

It’s been six months since the drama-filled second season of Sweet Magnolias dropped on Netflix. Since then, fans have been searching everywhere for information about the upcoming third season. Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date yet, but we do know production has started on Sweet Magnolias season 3, putting us a step closer to the show’s return.

Based on the books of the same name by Sherryl Woods, Sweet Magnolias follows a group of best friends as they help each other through the ups and downs of life while living in South Carolina. The amazing cast includes JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, Heather Headley, Jamie Lynn Spears, Logan Allen, Anneliese Judge, Carson Rowland, Justin Bruening, Chris Klein, and others.

After two successful seasons, Netflix decided to renew the romantic drama series for a third season in May 2022. But we didn’t get any updates on Sweet Magnolias season 3 until July 1, when JoAnna Garcia Swisher shared on her Instagram page that she was getting back into character for the third season. Initially, we thought this was Swisher’s way of telling fans that production had started, but that wasn’t the case.

On July 18, the official Sweet Magnolias writers room Instagram account shared that principal photography had officially begun on Sweet Magnolias season 3. And it looks like the cast and crew are still hard at work filming the third season, based on a recent Instagram post by Heather Headley. So when could we expect Sweet Magnolias season 3 to make its way to Netflix? We shared our release predictions on when the series could return below.

When could Sweet Magnolias season 3 arrive on Netflix?

Although we don’t have a confirmed production wrap date, we’re probably looking at about three months of production. This is how long it took the second season to be filmed. Since production on the third season started in July, three months later would put the wrap date sometime in October.

After filming wraps, we’re likely looking at about six to seven months of post-production before the third season lands on Netflix. If production wraps in October, six to seven months later will put the release date sometime in April or May 2023.

Remember, nothing has been confirmed. So we could see Sweet Magnolias season 3 earlier or later than our release predictions. For now, expect the third season to come to Netflix in spring 2023.
