Will You season 4 be the last season of the Netflix series?

Many would agree with me when I say Netflix made the right decision by picking up You after it had been dropped by Lifetime after only one season. Once the psychological thriller landed on Netflix with its second season, old and new viewers absolutely loved it. Now we’re on the fourth season, and fans can’t wait to see what Joe gets up to this season. But will You season 4 be the last time we see Joe? We shared all that we know about the show’s future below.

If you’re unfamiliar with You, let me give you a little rundown. You follows a charming yet intensely obsessive man named Joe Goldberg, who sets his sights on a woman, quickly falls in love, and stalks her. Did I forget to mention he’s a serial killer? This thriller series just gets better and better as the seasons go on!

The third season ended on a shocking note with one of the main characters meeting their demise and Joe skipping off to Paris. With how things ended in the third season, there’s so much to look forward to in the upcoming You season 4. As of Aug. 5, principal photography on the fourth season is still ongoing with a rumored wrap date on Aug. 31. A release date hasn’t been announced yet, but we most likely won’t see You season 4 until early 2023.

Although we’re excited to see the fourth season, we can’t help but wonder if this upcoming season will be the last. Four seasons is usually the max number of seasons Netflix gives its shows. Of course, there are Netflix shows with more than four seasons, but that’s typically not the case. Below, we’ve discussed what we know about You‘s future.

Will You season 4 be the final season?

It’s unknown at the moment. The good news is that Netflix hasn’t announced that You season 4 would be the final season. The streamer typically announces a show’s last season when it’s renewing it. When Netflix renewed You for a fourth season in October 2021, it did not say the fourth season would be the last. However, there’s a chance that the streamer could change its mind. We saw this with Locke and Key season 3. Locke and Key was renewed for a third season in 2020, and then in 2022, Netflix announced that the third season would be the final season. Hopefully, we don’t get blindsided like that with You.

If you were asking for our opinion, we’d say You season 4 could possibly be the last season. The first season was new, and we were introduced to Joe and his murderous tendencies. The second season stepped it up by introducing a character that challenged Joe. The third season killed off a major character, which saddened many fans but helped move the story forward. The upcoming fourth season will obviously pick up where the story left off, but we’ll likely see Joe doing the same things. Our main reason for thinking the fourth season might be the final season is that the story is getting repetitive. How many more times are we going to see Joe kill the person he claims to love?

However, we’re leaning more towards You getting one more season to wrap things up. The thriller series is arguably one of Netflix’s top original series. I just can’t see Netflix not giving this show a series conclusion. For now, we’d say expect at least one more season of You before it all comes to an end.
