Stranger Things season 5 is not coming to Netflix in August 2022

It’s been almost a month since Stranger Things season 4 part 2 dropped on Netflix, and I don’t think any of us are over that feature-length finale yet! We ended on such a good cliffhanger. The Hawkins heroes certainly will have their work cut out for them when Stranger Things season 5 is released.

Back in February, Netflix announced that the show was renewed and season 5 would be the final one of the streaming service’s most popular show. It’s going to be so hard to say goodbye. But I’m saving my tears for later. After all with the almost three-year wait between seasons 3 and 4, we have some time to accept this reality. But really, what will we do without Stranger Things in our lives?

Unfortunately, the fifth season won’t be coming our way in August 2022. So when can we expect to see the final season?

Stranger Things season 5 release date updates

Right now, we don’t have an official release date. Filming for season 5 hasn’t even started yet. Though during the pandemic, the Duffer Brothers stayed busy and created an outline for the final season. So they know how they want the Netflix hit to end.

The creators’ initial plan was to film the fourth and fifth seasons back to back, however the pandemic derailed those plans. This would have made our wait for the last season much shorter. And those kids just keep getting taller! They really can’t afford to wait another three years for the next season.

However the Duffers have assured fans that the wait for season 5 won’t be as long. Though that doesn’t mean it won’t take at least a year for our favorite sci-fi series to return. I’d say depending on when filming picks up again, Stranger Things won’t be back until late 2023 or sometime in 2024.
