We’re so excited to see the return of the beloved character Kelso in the upcoming That ’70s Show spin-off, That ’90s Show! In a new interview, Ashton Kutcher speaks on his and his wife’s (Mila Kunis) reasoning for reprising their roles in the spin-off, and it might have you shed a few tears.

Ashton Kutcher played Kelso, the simpleminded yet attractive friend in the friend group (Kelso, Eric, Jackie, Hyde, Fez, and Donna) in That ’70s Show. Mila Kunis portrayed Jackie, Kelso’s spoiled, pretty, and sometimes annoying girlfriend. Throughout the series, Kelso and Jackie went through ups and downs in their relationship and even broke up several times. However, viewers couldn’t help but root for their characters to make things right and get back together. They were just meant to be. Well, at least we thought they were until That ’70s Show threw a curveball in the series finale.

At first, it was unclear whether or not the main cast from That ’70s Show would be returning for That ’90s Show. But then, in April 2022, it was announced that Topher Grace, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Laura Prepon, and Wilmer Valderrama would be returning for guest appearances. Naturally, fans were over the moon about this news because they wanted to see what their favorite characters had been up to since they last saw them.

Now, Ashton Kutcher has revealed his and his wife’s nostalgic reason for joining the rest of That ’70s Show gang in the spin-off series.

Ashton Kutcher shares the emotional reason he returned for That ’90s Show

At the red carpet premiere of Kutcher’s new movie, Vengeance, Variety got the chance to speak with the That ’70s Show actor about his return for That ’90s Show. Kutcher spoke with Variety and explained how good it felt to be back on set and how nostalgic it was to see all the same crew from That ’70s Show working on That ’90s Show. Kutcher said, “It was really nostalgic to be back on the set. It’s all the same folks that made ‘That ’70s Show,’ so it was pretty bizarre.”

Kutcher then goes on to explain why he and Kunis believed reprising their roles in the spin-off series was the right thing to do. Kutcher said, “Mila and I were contemplating it. We thought, ‘Listen, we’re only in the position that we’re in because of that show, so let’s just go back and do this. We just went back and had fun for a week. It was so random and fun.” He later gives his opinion on That ’90s Show as a whole by saying how funny the series is and how great the cast is.

That ’90s Show follows Eric and Donna’s daughter Leia Forman as she spends the summer of 1995 with her grandparents, Red and Kitty, in Point Place, Wisconsin. While visiting her grandparents for the summer, Leia meets and makes friends with a new generation of Point Place kids.

As we mentioned earlier, Kutcher, Kunis, Prepon, Grace, and Valderrama will be making guest appearances in the spin-off series, but no details surrounding their storylines have been revealed yet.

That ’90s Show does not have an official release date yet. However, we’re hoping to see the spin-off by the end of 2022. Make sure to stay tuned to Netflix Life for more news and coverage on That ’90s Show.
