In a few short weeks, Dynasty season 5 will bring the hit CW series to an end, after the network canceled the soap and a handful of other shows in May. Ahead of the series finale, star Rafael de la Fuente shared an exciting tease for the series ender on Twitter.

On July 25, the Sammy Jo actor tweeted: “Something MAJOR is happening in the series finale of #Dynasty. We were hoping it would and it IS and you are NOT ready. Major.”

Considering something “major” tends to happen in your normal, average episode of Dynasty, we can only imagine what the writers have in store for the final episode. Could there be another long-lost relative, a major character death, or an alien invasion like in the original?!

Because we’re far too excited about Rafael de la Fuente’s Dynasty series finale tease, we’re going to have some fun and theorize what that “major” something could be. No possibility is too big! Whether it’s unlikely or not, we’re dreaming up a few wild twists we’ve all been waiting for.

Rafael de le Fuente teases Dynasty series finale

As soon as de la Fuente posted the tweet, long-time Dynasty fans began expressing their hopes that the series would bring back James Mackay as Steven Carrington. Of course, the character was abruptly written off in the first half of season 2 and otherwise replaced by Adam Carrington (Sam Underwood).

Ever since Steven left, fans have been keeping their fingers crossed for his return. Dynasty season 5 has name-dropped the character a few times, which is more than he’s been mentioned since his exit. Could Steven’s comeback be the “something” de la Fuente says we were hoping for?

If Mackay doesn’t return to reprise his role for the series finale, then we’re definitely getting something from the original series. Dynasty tends to fold in multiple references to the ’80s classic, whether it’s directly in the storyline or subtly in the fashion.

In the series finale of the Dynasty spin-off The Colbys, Fallon gets stranded in the desert and seemingly abducted by aliens. She later returns for the final two seasons of the series. Could The CW’s reboot reference this iconic, campy moment? Maybe! We’ll have to wait and see what happens for our Fallon.

Perhaps the lease likely option for the Dynasty series finale’s “major” moment (but one worth manifesting) is a cameo from Ariana Grande. The pop star and actress starred with Liz Gillies on Victorious, and the two have remained best friends ever since. Fingers crossed Grande stopped by Atlanta before leaving to film Wicked across the pond.

One of or none of our theories could be true, and the writers could have another unexpected trick up their sleeve for the series finale. One thing’s for sure, it’s going to be amazing and exactly what the fans want. What do you think will happen in the series finale?
