Joseph Quinn wishes Eddie and Chrissy would’ve become a couple in Stranger Things (just like us!)
Stranger Things season 4 might be about defeating Vecna, but the romantic pairings are just as important. While some couples faced problems in their relationships this season, it was smooth sailing for others. There were also new potential couples introduced, but sadly, we’ll never get to see one of those couples happen. Yes, we’re talking about Eddie and Chrissy. And apparently, we’re not the only ones who wanted to see this ship happen. Joseph Quinn, who plays Eddie, wishes his character would’ve gotten to be in a relationship with Chrissy (Grace Van Dien).
Spoilers from Stranger Things season 4 ahead!
When Eddie and Chrissy meet in the fourth season, it is blatantly obvious that they have chemistry. In the first episode of the season, Chrissy is experiencing strange visions where she hears a voice calling her name. This causes her to start looking for drugs to get rid of the nightmares. Of course, Eddie Munson is the first person she goes to for drugs.
Once they meet, they begin talking and getting to know each other better. They even reminisce about when they first met in middle school. The conversation flows and Eddie and Chrissy find themselves enjoying each other’s company. As viewers, we could see the sparks flying between the unlikely pair, but things quickly go south when they arrive at Eddie’s house. Ultimately, Chrissy gets killed by Vecna, which ruins the possibility of them getting into a relationship. And then to make matters worse, Eddie meets a tragic demise in the season finale. So there was just no way we’d get to see them together as a couple in Stranger Things.
Although things didn’t end well for Eddie and Chrissy, fans still can’t help but wonder if they would’ve eventually become a couple if they hadn’t died. Fortunately, Joseph Quinn gave his opinion on the topic in an interview with Netflix.

It looks like fans aren’t the only people who would’ve liked to see Eddie and Chrissy ride off into the sunset. The Eddie actor himself would’ve liked to see them be together if the circumstances were different. Not only were they dealing with Vecna, but Chrissy was also dating basketball jock, Jason. Remember, Eddie and Jason despised each other.
Quinn tells Netflix, “Eddie would have to step on Jason’s shoes pretty intensely. It would be lovely if there was a world in which [they could] be a pretty uncouth couple at Hawkins High that I think might shake things up a little bit.” Honestly, I doubt Eddie would’ve cared if he was getting in the way of Chrissy and Jason’s relationship. He seems to be a person who goes after what he wants. Also, I think Eddie and Chrissy would’ve been the power couple at Hawkins High if things had gone differently.
The Duffer Brothers were even surprised by the chemistry between Eddie and Chrissy in the scene in the woods. Matt Duffer tells TVLine, “The scene came alive in a way that was just so beautiful. So much of that was Joe and Grace. It was just one of those fortunate scenes where we were able to have two cameras rolling capturing them simultaneously. Joe was doing a lot of stuff kind of spontaneously, and we were getting these amazing reactions from Grace. It’s pretty impressive what Grace was able to do with very, very few scenes, to get people to care like she did.”
We hate that Eddie and Chrissy couldn’t be a couple in Stranger Things, but we’re happy we got to see them share a moment together in the sci-fi series.
