Do Mel and Jack get engaged in Virgin River season 4? (Spoilers)

Who’s ready for more drama? Virgin River season 4 is finally here and there’s so much to unpack in this supersized installment! Of course, fans will remember that season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger when Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) delivered the news to Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) that she’s expecting a child. The only tricky part? She doesn’t know who the father is.

Don’t worry, Mel didn’t cheat on Jack or anything like that. But she did go through IVF using an embryo with her late husband Mark’s (Daniel Gillies) sperm. Complicated, you say? Sure is! But that’s what we love so much about Virgin River!

Now that the fourth installment has arrived, we finally have answers to some of our most burning questions. These include who shot Jack, who the father of Mel’s baby is, and whether or not Mel and Jack make it through another season. And as you’d expect, season 4 ends on an intense moment as we learn something absolutely shocking.

Jack and Mel certainly go through a few rough patches throughout the new season, and that’s partly because they don’t know who the father of Mel’s baby is. Mel wants to do a paternity test, understandably, but Jack is uncertain. He doesn’t know how he’ll feel if he finds out Mark is the father. Another major part of season 4 is that Jack’s PTSD is getting worse and he uses alcohol to numb the pain. Mel catches on pretty quickly and is worried about his drinking. Fortunately, Jack decides to quit and even starts seeing a therapist Preacher (Colin Lawrence) recommended.

Who is the father of Mel’s baby in Virgin River?

I really didn’t think we’d find out in Virgin River season 4, but fortunately the identity of Mel’s baby’s father is revealed in the beginning of the finale. The two lovebirds are laying in bed together when Mel gets the results, and while they are hesitant, they decide to rip the band-aid off and check. Mel is over the moon happy to tell Jack that he is the father, and that they are having a baby girl! What amazing news.

Do Jack and Mel end up together in Virgin River season 4?

Yes, they do! And even better, Mel and Jack get engaged! In the final moments of the penultimate episode, we see the cute couple having a nice night at Jack’s new Airstream. Jack then gets on one knee with a gorgeous diamond ring, and delivers a sweet speech before asking Mel for her hand in marriage. The episode cuts short and ends before Mel can answer, but there’s no fooling us! Of course we know she’s going to say yes. The finale begins and Mel responds, agreeing to marry Jack.

There’s a two-day time jump after the proposal, and that’s when we see Jack and Mel find out the results of the paternity test.
