Sweet Magnolias season 3 has officially started filming (See the announcement!)

Sweet Magnolias fans, get ready to jump for joy because Sweet Magnolias season 3 has officially started production! This means we’re one step closer to seeing one of our favorite groups of best friends back on our screens.

On July 1, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who plays Maddie Townsend in the romantic drama series, posted a photo of herself with her signature Maddie hairstyle on Instagram with a caption reading, “Maddie’s’ lob is back. Could only mean one thing… #sweetmagnoliasnetflix #season3.” We had thought she was hinting that filming had started, but it looks like that wasn’t the case. Apparently, JoAnna wanted to show fans that she was getting back into character because production was slated to start soon.

Well, we didn’t have to wait long because the official Sweet Magnolias writers’ room Instagram account has just revealed that principal photography on the third season is now underway.

Sweet Magnolias season 3 starts filming

On July 18, the Sweet Magnolias writers room Instagram account posted a photo of the Sweet Magnolias season 3 logo on a piece of cloth with a caption reading, “Shall we begin? So happy to be welcoming everyone home to Serenity for day one of filming Season 3 of Sweet Magnolias! #Sweet Magnolias #SweetMagnoliasS3 #SweetMagnoliasNetflix @netflix.” So, production on the third season officially began on July 18. Sadly, a wrap date wasn’t included in the post, but we have an idea of when production could possibly end.

If the production schedule for Sweet Magnolias season 3 follows the same schedule as season 2, we’re most likely looking at three months of filming before the episodes enter post-production. This would put the wrap date sometime in October. After production wraps, the show should then immediately enter post-production. It took seven months of post-production for season 2, so we’re expecting a similar time frame for season 3. After the episodes are finished being edited in post-production, we should see the release of Sweet Magnolias season 3 on Netflix.

Sweet Magnolias season 3 release updates

Our best release date prediction for right now would be sometime in May 2023. This release date prediction is based on production lasting three months and post-production lasting seven months. Remember, this is only our release date prediction. Sweet Magnolias season 3 could come earlier or later than what we predicted. We’ll definitely share the official release date once Netflix announces it.
