After two years of remote gatherings, San Diego Comic-Con is once again set to take over the city of San Diego with its first live in-person convention since July 2019! While this year’s event might look a little different from years past, there are many big brands set to make their way back to the event including Stranger Things

Despite being one of television’s biggest shows, Stranger Things has surprisingly only hosted one SDCC panel over the years with the show’s last appearance coming in 2017. That summer, the cast took to the stage of Hall H for a massive panel to tease the show’s second season which would premiere later that year.

In the years since, the show has had a minimal presence at the annual pop culture event but that will change this year as Stranger Things panel has been confirmed for SDCC 2022. While the show is going to make its presence felt at SDCC again this year, its return is just not coming the way fans might be hoping for.

Stranger Things 2022 SDCC panel details

The good news is that Netflix’s hit series will be returning to SDCC this July; however, the show’s return will not be in the form of a Hall H panel featuring the cast and creative team behind the show. Instead, the franchise’s return to SDCC will be in the form of a Stranger Things Books panel set to be hosted on Friday, July 22!

Set to unfold in Room 29CD from 3:30 – 4:30 pm PT, fans are invited to join Random House books for a panel featuring authors Adam Christopher (Stranger Things: Darkness on the Edge of Town), Suyi Davies (Stranger Things: Lucas on the Line), Jody Houser (Stranger Things: Science Camp), and audiobook narrator Reginald James (Stranger Things: Lucas on the Line) as they discuss their official Stranger Things books and graphic novels based on the hit series in a panel moderated by Random House Worlds editorial director Elizabeth Schaefer.

It has not yet been revealed whether the panel might tease future books; however, there is always the possibility a new project could be revealed as this is SDCC, an event that always tends to bring with it new announcements!

Although it would have been amazing to see the cast return for a Hall H panel, it’s great to see the series finally returning to SDCC in some form and there’s no telling what teases the book panel could bring.
