How old is Barbie?
She’s fantastic, made of plastic, and super stylish; she’s the most famous doll in the world. Who are we talking about? Well, Barbie, of course!
Barbie — also known as Barbara Millicent Roberts — was created by Ruth Handler, who named the famous doll after her own daughter, Barbara, according to Barbie Media. Barbie has had a long career, trying out every job there is under the sun, and starring in several of our childhood favorite movies such as Barbie in Swan Lake, Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper, and Barbie as Rapunzel.
With Margot Robbie stepping into Barbie’s super glittery and very bright pink shoes in the upcoming Greta Gerwig alive-action movie, it got us wondering about how old the doll is supposed to be,
Margot Robbie is 31 years old, but could Barbie be the same? Find out how old she truly is below!
Barbie age
Barbie is frozen at 19, according to Mattel Toys, and appears as a young adult in her movies and series.
Of course, the fashion doll itself is much, MUCH older than that. Barbie was first manufactured in March 1959. This would make the very first doll 63 years old. But even though she’s approached her golden retirement years, it doesn’t look like she’ll be slowing down any time soon. There are two new Barbie movies — Barbie: The Mermaid Power and Barbie: The Epic Road Trip — expected to be released at some point in 2022.
