Calling all Millie Bobby Brown fans, the amazingly gifted actress has signed on to a new project, and this time she’s teamed up with the creative dynamic duo, the Russo brothers. The upcoming Netflix original movie is titled The Electric State, and we’ve shared all there is to know about it right below!

With Stranger Things season 4 part 2 slated to come out on July 1, this is the perfect news to be announced since we won’t be seeing Millie Bobby Brown in any new projects for a while after the science fiction show’s release. Enola Holmes 2 is expected to be released in 2022, but an official release date still has yet to be announced. Now with The Electric Slate announcement, we know we have more content of hers to look forward to.

Below, you’ll find all the juicy deets about the upcoming action-adventure movie, like release updates, cast, and so much more!

The Electric State release updates

Netflix has not announced an official release date yet, and we’re not expecting the streamer to do so any time soon. As of June 29, the film is still in pre-production. However, if we had to give our best release date prediction, we’d say we’re most likely looking at a summer or fall 2023 release. Surely, The Electric State will be one of the biggest summer or end-of-the-year releases when it comes out. Once Netflix announces the official release date, you’ll be the first to know.

The Electric State cast

Millie Bobby Brown will be starring in the leading role. In addition, Jurassic World Dominion‘s Chris Pratt is in talks to also star in the film. Both of their character names are undisclosed at the moment. As more of the cast is announced, we’ll update this space.

The Electric State synopsis

Joe and Anthony Russo will direct The Electric State. They are best known for the hit superhero films Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Their most recent movie, The Gray Man, will be released on Netflix on July 22.

The Russo brothers’ longtime writing partners, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, signed on to write the screenplay. It’s a film adaptation of the novel titled the same name by Simon Stålenhag.

The Russo brothers and Mike Larocca are producing through their AGBO production company along with Chris Castaldi and Patrick Newall. Angela Russo-Otstot, Jake Aust, Geoff Haley, Markus, and McFeely are executive producing.

Here’s the official synopsis via The Hollywood Reporter below:

"The story centers on an orphaned teenager (Brown) who traverses an American west that is reminiscent of a retro-future with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother."

The Electric State filming

Principal photography is scheduled to start in October in Atlanta, Georgia. An exact start and wrap date are unknown at the moment, but we’re expecting production to continue into the following year. Once we figure out the production schedule, we’ll make sure to share it with you.

The budget for The Electric State has been revealed, and let me just say, it’ll be a pretty expensive movie to make. It’s been reported that the action-adventure film will be in the $200 million range, rivaling the Russo brothers’ latest film, The Gray Man budget.

Make sure to constantly check this space for updates because we’ll be sharing new information about The Electric State as it’s released.
