It’s finally happening, this is not a drill. Queen Cameron Diaz is un-retiring and making a new movie! How fitting that the film is called Back in Action, reports Variety. We can’t wait to have you back Cameron.

Earlier today, Jamie Foxx released a cute recording on his Twitter of a phone call between him, Diaz and a special guest: Tom Brady. Brady has some experience “un-retiring” so he was happy to offer the actress some tips.

Foxx then revealed that he and Diaz would be teaming up for Netflix action-comedy film Back in Action, with production preparing to start this year. The 54-year-old actor seems like the perfect choice to herald in Diaz’s next phase since the pair worked together previously on the 1999 movie Any Given Sunday and the 2014 Annie remake.

Come August, Foxx also has another Netflix movie coming out titled Day Shift, so he already has experience working with the streamer.

You can listen to the short audio recording posted by Foxx below. In it Diaz admits that she doesn’t know how to do this, “this” being coming out of retirement, but we have faith that the new movie will be excellent!

Cameron Diaz comes out of retirement for Netflix film Back in Action

For those in need of a reminder, Diaz decided to take a step back from acting back in 2018, though she has stayed busy since then with other projects. She had an uncredited cameo in the 2019 Charlie’s Angel reboot and even appeared as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7.

Cameron has also invested in several start-up companies and even launched her own organic wine brand. Otherwise, the 49-year-old has mostly been laying low with her husband Benji Madden and their daughter. Her last film role was Annie, where she played Miss Hannigan.

And despite Brady appearing on the call, as far as we know, he doesn’t have any involvement in Back in Action. It seemed like he was just appearing as a joke since Brady retired from the NFL and then came back to rejoin the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just 40 days later.

Diaz also confirmed her involvement in Netflix’s Back in Action via her Instagram stories, writing, “Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!! I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!”

Besides the leading cast, we know that the film will be directed by Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon from a script he wrote with Neighbors scribe Brendan O’Brien. O’Brien and Foxx will also serve as executive producers alongside Mark McNair.
