Is Hotel Obsidian from The Umbrella Academy season 3 a real place?

The Umbrella Academy season 3 is finally here and we’re so excited for everyone to check out the 10 new episodes! Picking up where we last left off, the Umbrellas are in serious trouble as they fought off the Commission only to find themselves back in the present-day with a major mess-up. Their time travel didn’t go as seamlessly as they’d hoped and now, another group called the Sparrow Academy exists and are living in their home. Can only one set of siblings exist at once? We’ll find out!

Minor spoilers ahead for The Umbrella Academy season 3.

The premiere of The Umbrella Academy season 3 sees the Umbrellas and Sparrows facing off and realizing the other group might be more threatening than they had initially thought. The Sparrows have powers the Umbrellas have never heard of and vice versa. In the end, the Sparrows basically kick the Umbrellas’ butts, though, and it’s time for another game plan.

The Umbrellas realize they now need a new place to stay, somewhere that they can blend right in and not cause a scene. Klaus Hargreeves (Robert Sheehan) knows just the place, and directs the siblings to a place called Hotel Obsidian. The old-timey hotel almost transports the viewer back to another time period, with its decor, employees, and guests. As they arrive, Klaus explains that the hotel has had plenty of famous guests, including Mahatma Gandhi, the Dalai Lama, Elvis Presley, and two of the Kardashians, “allegedly.”

The hotel is certainly strange and interesting, but is it a real place outside of The Umbrella Academy?

Is Hotel Obsidian a real hotel?

Though Hotel Obsidian does look like it could be a real place in New York City or another swanky town, it’s fictional and only exists — at this time — in The Umbrella Academy. A lot of the locations in the show are fictional, including the Umbrella Academy (or in this season, the Sparrow Academy).
