Coming off a hot streak with projects like Scream, In the Heights and Vida, Mexican actress and singer Melissa Barrera is continuing to diversify her portfolio with a new Netflix project called Keep Breathing.
This survival thriller follows a young woman after she becomes the lone survivor of a plane crash. Netflix just released some of the first-look images for the show, plus the release date, cast list, directors and more.
Martin Gero (Bored to Death) and Brendan Gall (Blindspot) serve as co-showrunners on the series. Between shows like this one, Yellowjackets and The Wilds, it seems like plane crash survival stories are all the rage right now.

What is Keep Breathing about?
We don’t have an official synopsis yet, but Netflix did share the show’s logline.
"After her private plane crashes in the remote Canadian frontier, lone survivor and New York lawyer, Liv (Melissa Barrera), must battle both an unforgiving wilderness and past personal traumas to stay alive."
Is there a trailer for Keep Breathing?
Netflix has not released a trailer for the series yet. Since it is not coming out until the end of July, that’s pretty standard. We’ll probably get a trailer a couple of weeks before the debut, maybe mid-July.
Is Keep Breathing based on a book?
No, Keep Breathing appears to be an original idea from the series’ co-showrunners.
Keep Breathing photos
Ahead of the debut, Netflix released some first-look photos so you can get an idea of what the show will look like and what to expect!
Considering it is a survival thriller, it’s hard to convey the sense of urgency and tension in images, but we do get a glimpse of Barrera’s character Liv looking at her surroundings and assessing the danger she’s in. It also looks like Austin Stowell will play a fellow passenger on the plane named Sam. One image shows Liv near Sam’s body. Perhaps he initially survives and then dies while Liv is tending to him.
Another photo depicts Liv using what looks like a compass and several images displaying the beautiful environment of the Canadian province British Colombia, where the show was filmed, which is fitting since it takes place in the “remote Canadian frontier.”
