The Lake is a television series created by Julian Doucet. Doucet also served as a writer and executive producer. In addition, Michael Souther and Teza Lawrence executive produced under their production company Amaze Film + Television, and Jordan Canning and Paul Fox directed the episodes. The show is about a recently divorced gay man who returns home from living abroad to reconnect with the daughter he gave up for adoption when he was a teen. But his plans go awry when he finds out his parents left the family cottage to his step-sister.

Stiles is best known for her roles in 10 Things I Hate About You, Save the Last Dance, The Prince and Me and Silver Linings Playbook. The rest of the cast includes Madison Shamoun, Terry Chen, Travis Nelson, Natalie Lisinska, Jon Dore, Carolyn Scott, and Declan Whaley.
