Everything to know about Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story starring Jerry Seinfeld

Jerry Seinfeld teamed up with Netflix to produce a new comedy film titled Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story. If this title seems familiar to you, it’s probably because you’re thinking about Seinfeld’s Pop-Tart stand-up bit. Well, he’s made a movie about it, and we shared everything we know about the upcoming Netflix movie below.

Seinfeld not only stars in the new film, but he also took over directing duties as well as helped with scriptwriting. Joining him in the writer's room were Spike Feresten, Barry Marder, and Andy Robin. This isn't the first time he's worked with Marder and Feresten. He previously worked with them on the 2007 kid-animated film Bee Movie. For Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story, Seinfeld, Feresten, and Beau Beauman also produced.

Cameras start rolling in May 2022 in Los Angeles, California and are believed to have stopped rolling in July of that same year. As mentioned above, Seinfeld stars as the protagonist of the film. The rest of the talented cast is made up of Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, James Marsden, Jack McBrayer, Thomas Lennon, Bobby Moynihan, Maria Bakalova, Max Greenfield, Bill Burr, Dan Levy, Christian Slater, Hugh Grant, and several others.

It's a movie set in Michigan in the '60s. 1963 to be exact. Two cereal company rivals, Kellogg's and Post, are competing to see who can create a new pastry that will forever change how households usually eat breakfast. Netflix describes it as "a tale of ambition, betrayal, sugar and menacing milkmen.”

When is Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story coming to Netflix?

We finally have the official release date. Drum roll, please! The comedy flick is scheduled to make its way to Netflix on Friday, May 3, 2024. You can expect it to drop at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET since that's the usual time that Netflix drops new content. However, we can't forget about our Midwest folks. If you're in the Central time zone, you're looking at a release time of 2:00 a.m. CT on May 3.

Unfortunately, we don't have an official trailer just yet, but we're expecting it to drop closer to its release. We're probably looking at sometime in April. No worries.
