Peaky Blinders might have sung its swan song with the release of season 6, but the franchise is reportedly far from over. Creator Steven Knight previously confirmed that the show would continue in another form after the end of its sixth season. But what, exactly, does that mean? Is Peaky Blinders season 7 on the horizon?

Sadly, no. Do not expect to see a seventh season of Peaky Blinders. While the sixth and final season arrived on Netflix in the U.S. this past weekend, those abroad likely saw the show when it first debuted in April on BBC One. Once we get to the end of a beloved season, or even a movie, it’s natural for fans to look online for future plans.

While Peaky Blinders season 7 might not be in the cards, that doesn’t mean it’s never going to return in another form. For starters, the series already lives on in other media, like a video game, books, clothing lines and other merchandise.

Then in January 2021, Knight told Deadline in an exclusive that he always intended to finish the show with a movie and assured fans, “That is what is going to happen.” In the past he has also said that Peaky Blinders is “a beast that will not die.”

Will there be a Peaky Blinders season 7?

To reiterate, no, there will not be a seventh season of the show.

Peaky Blinders spin-off film updates

There is still no word yet on what the spin-off film will look like or when we might see it. While chatting with Deadline about the end of the show earlier this month (June 2022), star Cillian Murphy revealed that he hadn’t seen a script for the movie yet and didn’t know what the status of it was.

Asked what he knew about the proposed movie at this point, this is what Murphy had to say:

"Genuinely nothing and I’d be as excited as anybody to read a script. But I think it’s good for everyone to have a little break. That’s always a healthy thing and then we can regroup. Steve is an insanely busy and in-demand writer, but I know that he loves writing Peaky above all, I’m sure he’s told you the same. He adores it. So I think when the time comes, if there’s more story to be told, I’ll be there."

But the season only ended officially a few months ago (or even more recently for U.S. watchers), so there’s no reason to be concerned about this lack of update. It sounds like Murphy is still down to do a movie when it happens and taking a break between the end of the show and the future film doesn’t sound like a bad idea. As Murphy says, it gives the team a chance to regroup.
