How many seasons of Stranger Things are there?

As of May 2022, there will be four seasons of Stranger Things available to watch on Netflix. Of course, season 4 will be split into two volumes, with the first seven episodes of the highly anticipated season arriving on May 27 and the final two dropping on July 1.

Beyond the release of both volumes of season 4, Netflix renewed Stranger Things for a fifth and final season, meaning fans still have one more season to look forward to. As for when season 5 will hit our watch lists, we’ll have to wait and see.

Stranger Things season 4 part 2 release date

As mentioned above, Stranger Things season 4 was split for release in two parts. The first seven episodes drop as Stranger Things season 4 part 1 on Friday, May 27. Each episode clocks in at over an hour in length, with episode 7 coming in at over 90 minutes.

Stranger Things season 4 part 2 will be released on Friday, July 1 with just two episodes. Even though Netflix will release only two episodes, the second volume of the season will be worth the wait, as the ninth episode will be two and half hours long.

Stranger Things season 4 part 2 cast

Stranger Things season 4 synopsis

While we know Stranger Things season 4 part 2 will pick up right after that nail-biting cliffhanger at the end of season 4 episode 7, here’s the synopsis Netflix provided for the full season:

"It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down."

When we last left off with the characters, Eleven finally found out the truth about 001 and Vecna, Nancy was succumbing to Vecna’s curse while a panicked Steve tried to get through to her and Joyce and Hopper finally reunited in Russia after Hopper and Dmitri narrowly defeated a Demogorgon. Meanwhile, in California, Mike, Will, Jonathan and Argyle are visiting Suzie to find out more about where Eleven is and The Nina Project.

The biggest thing we need answers to is if Steve and Nancy get out of the Upside Down, as they were the last two to go through the gate at the end of the seventh episode and Nancy was on the verge of becoming Vecna’s latest victim.

Stranger Things season 4 part 2 episode lengths

Before the release of the first part of season 4, Netflix unveiled the episode lengths for the “super-sized” season, which featured one-hour-plus long episodes in the first volume. In the second, we’re getting the longest episode of Stranger Things ever!
