Netflix and Mattel Television announce Masters of the Universe: Revolution

Netflix isn’t done with the He-Man universe just yet. Day three of Geeked Week 2022 is all about animation and at the start of the day’s announcements, Netflix revealed that another He-Man series is in the works, this one titled Masters of the Universe: Revolution. We’re returning to Eternia with a sequel series to Revelation!

Kevin Smith returns to executive produce this series after creating and executive producing the adult-oriented anime series Masters of the Universe: Revelation. Rob David, Ted Biaselli, Christopher Keenan and Frederic Soulie join him as executive producers on this new project.

Netflix is creating this new show in co-production with Mattel Television and Powerhouse Animation is doing the animation on the series.

This new series marks one of several shows within the He-Man universe on Netflix. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is a superhero series and reimagining of the 1983 series. There are two seasons so far, with the most recent releasing this past February.

The more mature Masters of the Universe: Revelation is an anime series from Smith that debuted in late 2021. There’s also the acclaimed She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which is related to the He-Man universe, albeit not really in the Netflix show version.

What is Masters of the Universe: Revolution about?

From Netflix, “Masters of the Universe: Revolution is an all-new story that brings the focus to He-Man vs. Skeletor like you’ve never seen them before. It’s technology versus magic as He-Man and the heroic warriors face the forces of Skeletor and a deadly threat to the Planet in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVOLUTION – the next epic chapter in the battle for Eternia.”

The series will have an all-star voice cast, which has yet to be announced.
