Famed filmmaker Tim Burton will be making his television debut with a series inspired by Wednesday Addams, with Jenna Ortega playing the title role.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Christina Ricci‘s portrayal of the character is the most well-known today. However, plenty of other actresses have played Wednesday ever since she was introduced in the 1964 original series, including Lisa Loring, Noelle Von Sonn, Nicole Fugere, Krysta Rodriguez, Rachel Potter, Lauren Revere, Melissa Hunter, Carrie Hope Fletcher, Cindy Henderson, Debi Derryberry and Chloë Grace Moretz.

But we’re just as excited to see what Jenna Ortega is going to bring to the role as the actress has been having a real breakout as of late with movies like Scream and X under her belt.

If you’re hankering for details about the show, then look no further. Without further ado, here is what we know so far about Wednesday.

Wednesday release date

We were all surprised when Netflix shared their lineup for October releases and Wednesday was nowhere to be found. Wouldn’t this be a perfect show for Halloween?! Well, the streamer just announced this Friday that Wednesday will debut on Nov. 23, 2022. 

That’s the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, which also makes sense the 1993 movie Addams Family Values is considered a Thanksgiving flick. Plus, the whole family can binge through the episodes during the holiday!
