Stranger Things season 4 scores biggest premiere weekend ever

In not so strange news, Netflix shared that its hit show Stranger Things season 4 hit a historical record for the streaming service! Season 4 volume 1 broke viewership numbers, becoming the most watched English-language show on its premiere weekend.

The numbers that came to Netflix are huge – 286.79 million hours were viewed globally! Bridgerton season 2 previously held the spot with over 193 million hours watched within the first three days of its release.

With Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 only a few weeks away (set to drop on July 1), I wouldn’t be surprised if the series breaks another record. With the cliffhanger we were left with, we’re more than eager for the remaining two episodes in the season!

Stranger Things season 4 makes Netflix history

The science fiction horror also set another record for the streaming giant. It managed to reach the “001 spot” in 83 countries for the first time, setting another premiere weekend record. And Max’s favorite song, the 1985 tune “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush, is now number 1 on iTunes! Oh the power this show has!

It’s not surprising at all that the series has managed to break these records. It’s already been a popular show since it debuted in 2016. But add to that the almost three years of waiting between the end of season 3 and the fourth season’s debut – you’ve got lots of nerds who were impatiently waiting! So of course once the new season dropped, we binge watched like we’ve never binged before!

I’m very curious to see how things play out when volume 2 is released. That will be a much quicker watch, and I bet fans will be watching those episodes more than once. After all, there’s only two episodes remaining. Even though the finale alone is 2 and a half hours long!
