Did Millie Bobby Brown shave her head for Stranger Things season 4?

You’ve seen the clips of Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven in Stranger Things season 4, and for portions of the new episodes, she’s sporting the familiar shaved-head look from the first season. While the actress shaved her head for her role back then, did she again?

It’s a question many fans will have while watching Stranger Things season 4, considering Millie Bobby Brown’s look goes through a major transformation in the eagerly awaited episodes. In the beginning of the season, Eleven rocks bangs and shoulder-length hair not unlike her “adoptive mother” Joyce.

Due to a change of circumstances in season 4 (no spoilers!), Eleven’s hair returns to how we knew it at the beginning of the series. There’s a lot of incredible special effects in Stranger Things season 4, but was Brown’s hair another visual smoke and mirror?

Did Millie Bobby Brown wear a wig in Stranger Things season 4?

As you might have assumed, Millie Bobby Brown didn’t actually shave her head for Stranger Things season 4. Although the short-haired wig she wears later on in the season looks almost as real as her previous shaved head in season 1, it’s just that — a wig.

For the first half of the series, Eleven’s super ’80s hairdo could have also been a wig, though it’s less apparent than the season 1 throwback. It’s also very different than Brown’s long blonde hair with bangs that she debuted at the Stranger Things season 4 premiere.

The 18-year-old Emmy-nominated star has more than proven that she’s willing to put in the commitment to properly portray Eleven’s story, and that was apparent from a much younger age. Although she might have worn a wig this time, it’s still true of Brown’s commitment as evident in her amazing performance.

We can’t wait to see what’s next for El in both Stranger Things season 4 part 2 and Stranger Things season 5, which will be the final season of the hit Netflix series. Whatever’s in the cards for the endgame, you can bet Millie Bobby Brown will knock it out of the park.
