Is Tammy Thompson in Stranger Things season 4 part 1? (Who is she?)

Grab a can of New Coke, your walkie-talkies, and your Dungeons & Dragons board, because we’re being transported back to the 1980s with Stranger Things season 4! The highly-anticipated season just dropped in its first part today, and fans are already well into binging the seven new episodes.

Season 4 takes place a few months after the events of the season 3 finale, with the Byers and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) now living in Lenora Hills, California. The rest of the gang is still back in Hawkins, Indiana, with the exception of Jim Hopper (David Harbour). The season 3 finale had us thinking Hopper had died in the explosion at the Starcourt Mall, however we know he’s actually now alive living out as a prisoner in Russia!

So what’s going on for the remaining group in Hawkins? Well, a new school year has started since season 3 ended and they’re getting ready for Spring Break. We get a peek into Hawkins High School and how the characters interact with their classmates, along with what activities they get into.

Minor spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season 4 part 1.

In the premiere episode of Stranger Things season 4, we see Steve (Joe Keery) driving Robin (Maya Hawke) to school as they talk about their love lives. Robin is crushing on a girl named Vickie (Amybeth McNulty) who’s in band with her. She and Steve reference Tammy Thompson again and this character even makes an appearance in the season!

Who is Tammy Thompson in Stranger Things?

If you heard the name Tammy Thompson and couldn’t remember who that was, we don’t blame you! She’s briefly mentioned in Stranger Things season 3 and doesn’t actually appear until season 4. She’s the girl Robin admits to having a crush on to Steve when they’re laying down in the bathroom stalls. This is when Robin comes out to Steve. You can watch the clip below!

In season 4, Steve pokes fun at Robin for having a crush on Tammy and says her singing sounds like a Muppet. Apparently, Tammy thinks she’s a great singer and will sing any chance she gets. Robin laughs it off, but later uses that same joke when trying to make Vickie laugh.

Before the basketball game at school starts that afternoon, Tammy comes in to sing the National anthem. Robin and Steve lock eyes from their seats and laugh, and once Tammy starts singing off-tune, she whispers to him that he was right; Tammy does sound like a muppet. Vickie’s right next to Robin and hears her, and she agrees, saying she sounds like Kermit. They share a laugh together, and then Robin starts to tell Vickie that she used to have a crush on Tammy. But Vickie doesn’t hear her, and when she asks Robin to repeat herself, Robin simply says they used to have a class together.

Vickie doesn’t have a big role in Stranger Things season 4 volume 1, and neither does Tammy, but we hope we’ll see more of the former in volume 2.
