The Originals seasons 1-4 confirmed to leave Netflix in June 2022

After hearing about all the CW shows‘ cancellations, we had hoped to hear some good news. But I guess when it rains, it pours. Unfortunately, we just received word that The Originals will be leaving Netflix very soon. How soon? Well, The Originals seasons 1-4 will be departing the streamer this June.

The first season of the fantasy series arrived on Netflix in 2014. Then, we saw the addition of a new season on Netflix every year until the show ended in 2018. The fifth and final season made its way to Netflix in August 2018, and the clock immediately started ticking for when the show would be departing Netflix. If you’re wondering what we mean by this, we’ll break it down.

The CW and Netflix used to have a deal where new seasons of CW shows would come to the streamer soon after each show’s season finale aired. Once a CW show came to an end and the final season was dropped on Netflix, the show would remain exclusively on the streamer for five years. Fortunately, The Originals was a part of the deal.

Since the final season of The Originals dropped on Netflix in August 2018, five years later would be August 2023. We had predicted that the entire fantasy series would be departing Netflix in August 2023, but it looks like seasons 1-4 will be leaving sooner than we expected.

When is The Originals leaving Netflix?

The Originals seasons 1-4 is scheduled to depart Netflix on Thursday, June 30, 2022. This means the last day to watch the first four seasons of the fantasy series on Netflix is June 29. I think you have enough time to watch seasons 1-4 on Netflix before they depart if you make sure to set aside some time. It’s unclear when the fifth season will leave Netflix at the moment. But there’s a possibility that the fifth season will depart the same day.

Where will The Originals stream next?

As of May 25, it’s unknown where the fantasy series will stream next. However, we think there’s a good chance it will move over to HBO Max with the newer CW shows. We’ll just have to wait and see what the show’s distributor (Warner Bros. Television Distribution) decides.
