The wait is almost over, Stranger Things fans! We’re so close to the Stranger Things season 4 part 1 release date on Netflix, and we’ve been preparing ourselves for the highly anticipated release. One of the important details we’d like to share is the parents guide and age rating for the new episodes coming on May 27. Can you watch the fourth season with your kids, or is it recommended that the kids are tucked in and ready for bed before you hit play and watch the show to your heart’s content? We’ve answered this burning question right below!

On May 27, all seven episodes of Stranger Things season 4 part 1 will be dropped on everyone’s Netflix accounts. And guess what? Each episode is in the one-hour range! You’ll definitely have a field day watching the brand-new episodes. Then, on July 1, viewers will get the last two episodes of the fourth season with the finale clocking in at two and a half hours long. This will be the longest Stranger Things episode to date. Thankfully, the Duffer Brothers gave the fans what they wanted after such a long wait.

It looks like season 4 will be the darkest and most mature season yet. Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has even teased in an interview on The Matt Wilkinson Show that the fourth season “is like truly messed up, and it’s going to freak people out a lot.” There was even a rumor going around that the hit original series age rating had been bumped up to TV-MA for the fourth season. However, Netflix has yet to confirm the rumor, so we’ll have to believe the age rating stayed the same until proven otherwise.

Here’s the Stranger Things season 4 part 1 age rating and more down below!

Stranger Things season 4 part 1 parents guide and age rating

As of May 23, the first part of the fourth season is rated TV-14. The sci-fi show has been given this age rating for previous seasons, so this isn’t anything new. The TV-14 rating means that the show contains material that many parents would consider inappropriate for children ages 14 and under. Some of the unsuitable content includes blood and gore, smoking, and intense violent scenes. There will also be mild to strong language used by some of the characters.

Stranger Things is known to show very creepy-looking creatures, and you can expect the fourth season to do the same. In the Strangers Things season 4 official trailer, there’s a short clip of the season’s newest foe, Vecna. The creature will definitely be frightening for younger audiences. Overall, parents are strongly cautioned.
