I don’t know about you, but when I think about what to watch on Memorial Day weekend, I always find myself in the mood for big shows that include spectacle, humor, action and maybe a dash of romance. Perhaps it’s Hollywood training my expectations since, usually, tentpole blockbuster films arrive on this three-day weekend that signifies the beginning of summer. But what are the best Netflix shows to watch to get that same sense of adrenaline and awe?

As most Netflix subscribers are already well aware, a new season of Stranger Things starts this weekend. Stranger Things season 4 is easily one of the most heavily anticipated items to arrive on Netflix in 2022, so I imagine that’s how most people will be spending at least some of their Memorial Day weekend this year.

But apart from catching up with the Hawkins gang, there are plenty of other fantastic Netflix shows available to watch on Memorial Day weekend and we’re taking a look at some of the best Netflix shows to fill in your extra free time in the coming days below.

Best Netflix shows to watch on Memorial Day weekend 2022

Whether you want to prepare for the final saga of Tommy Shelby on Peaky Blinders or catch up with the Hargreeves siblings before The Umbrella Academy returns, the following list will give you some great ideas for ways to spend your TV-watching time on Memorial Day weekend 2022.

Stranger Things

Considering the fourth season of Stranger Things is finally debuting this Friday, I’m guessing that’s how most Netflix subscribers will be spending their time this weekend. The first seven episodes of the popular series will drop, followed by the final two episodes of the season on July 1.

And before you get disappointed by Netflix splitting the season into two volumes, keep in mind that this season of Stranger Things is supersized with the finale alone running at over 2 1/2 hours. That’s more than the length of some Marvel movies!

The Umbrella Academy

It’s not just Stranger Things that’s returning soon after a lengthy hiatus between seasons. The Umbrella Academy fans will finally get to see the epic showdown between the Umbrellas and the Sparrows when the show returns for its third season on June 22. Before then, why not spend the long weekend revisiting the first two seasons? There’s plenty of action, fantastic music and humor to keep you entertained and celebrate the incoming summer season.

The Lincoln Lawyer

Memorial Day weekend means that most networks will be playing seemingly endless reruns of NCIS and Law & Order: SVU. Why not take a break from the episodes you’ve already seen countless times and check out something new? Netflix series The Lincoln Lawyer only dropped earlier this month, so if you haven’t had the chance to check it out now is the perfect time.

At only ten episodes, the first season is addictive and an easy binge-watch that will keep you riveted all weekend. After that, you can always pick up the books to tide you over until season 2 (fingers crossed we get a renewal!).

Bridgerton

If you’re in the mood for something sweet and romantic, might I suggest watching Bridgerton? Like some of the other projects on this list, Bridgerton is also based on a book series so even if you blow through the first two seasons of the show you can keep yourself entertained for weeks with the complete book series!

Plus, Netflix has already renewed the show for seasons three and four, with additional seasons likely coming later on. Now is the time to catch up so you’re ready when new episodes drop in the future.

Peaky Blinders

Speaking of shows returning very soon, the sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders is coming to Netflix U.S. in June! On June 10, fans will be able to watch the entire series from start to finish. If you haven’t watched Peaky Blinders yet or you’re not caught up, this weekend is the perfect time to do so in preparation for the final batch of episodes.
