Has Heartstopper been renewed? (Yes, and for multiple seasons!)

Heartstopper was hands-down one of the best new Netflix shows of 2022 so far, and we would go so far as to say it will be the best Netflix show of the year. Thankfully, the adorable new teen series won’t be going anywhere anytime soon!

Based on the series of graphic novels by Alice Oseman, who also wrote all eight episodes of the first season, Heartstopper centers on Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) as they explore their crushes on each other, as well as their polar opposite groups of friends.

The series made its premiere on Netflix in April 2022 and was an instant hit with fans of the books who had been anxiously awaiting the series. Locke, Connor, and the entire talented, young cast have become overnight sensations — and rightfully so!

Thankfully, we’ll be seeing Charlie and Nick’s story continue for many more seasons to come. Netflix announced the great news of a multi-season renewal for the new series. We’re sharing all of the exciting, heart-stopping details below!

Heartstopper renewed for season 2 and 3

On May 20, Netflix announced that Heartstopper season 2 and Heartstopper season 3 are on the way. The streamer handed out the rare double renewal, which was something of a no brainer for the series, since it’s been not only a hit with critics and viewers but a smash with fans online.

Apart from Oseman’s book sales rising since the release of the series, Locke and Connor’s social followings have each rapidly increased as well, with 2.5 million and 3.4 million followers respectively on Instagram. They had each had around 100K before the series premiered!

Although not as gargantuan of a viewership performer as Bridgerton and Ozark, it’s still no slouch. Heartstopper hit the top 10 in 54 countries and has topped Variety’s Trending TV chart for at least four weeks. Prepare for much more viral conversation for seasons 2 and 3.

Netflix confirms Alice Oseman will be back as the writer and executive producer for both seasons 2 and 3, who helped share the amazing news of the two-season renewal with an illustration of Charlie and Nick with the caption “2 more seasons!”
