Who actually killed Sara in the Netflix thriller series Who Killed Sara? Who Killed Sara season 3 finally answers that question. Obviously the following article will contain tons of spoilers for the show’s ending as the third and final season just debuted on Netflix earlier today.

Spoilers ahead for the Who Killed Sara ending

It seems like every season gave us a different backstory regarding Sara’s untimely death. Considering the incredible twists this show has taken from beginning to end, it’s not too surprising that, yet again, more shocking turns were thrown into mix during the third and final season. But let’s answer the question posed by the show’s title, the question we’ve all been wondering since the show began.

Who actually killed Sara in Who Killed Sara?

It turns out that Sara actually killed herself, but the reason why is complicated. In season 2, we were led to believe that Marifer had murdered Sara by cutting the straps of the parachute. However, in Who Killed Sara season 3 we find out that Sara did not die in the paragliding accident as we were led to believe.

We already found out that she supposedly died after, in the hospital from injuries sustained during the accident, but Sara actually survived and was kidnapped by Reinaldo and taken to the “Medusa Center.” There, Reinaldo used her and many others as lab rats in his attempts to cure schizophrenia and forcibly commit conversion therapy on gay people.

That included poor Chema who he also tortured. Sara had shown some signs of schizophrenia, making her the perfect test subject for his studies and, more than that, Reinaldo wanted to see if he could prevent Sara from passing on the gene to her unborn daughter. Reinaldo assisted in orchestrating the cover story regarding Marifer. Marifer actually ended up dying at the Medusa Center, too.

What happens to Alex at the end of Who Killed Sara season 3?

Despite shooting several people at the Medusa Center, Alex gets to move on with his life with Elisa and Lucia (Sara’s almost identical daughter that she had with Cesar).

Alex also finally gets his revenge on the person who killed Sara, as he gets to kill Reinaldo, which he does with intense electroshock therapy, similar to what Reinaldo had done to so many of his unwilling patients.

But it’s not just the bad guys who die. Sadly, Rodolfo does not survive after he gets shot by a security guard, but Chema does make it out alive after being tormented by Reinaldo.

Cesar takes the fall for everything in Who Killed Sara season 3

Cesar takes the blame for Abel’s death (a murder Chema was initially accused of) at the end of season 3. We find out that Cesar actually has pancreatic cancer and would die soon anyway, so by letting himself get sentenced to prison, he’s trying to make amends for all the horrible things he’s done throughout his life, such as allowing Alex to go to prison for so long and kicking off all the events of the series back in season 1. He gives Alex his blessing to go on and be happy with his daughter (Elisa).
