Bridgerton season 3 will tell Colin and Penelope’s story (instead of Benedict’s)

Polin fans rejoice! Bridgerton season 3 is set to make history by becoming the first season to skip ahead in the Bridgerton book series by skipping past book three in order to instead tell the story of Colin and Penelope!
While each season of Netflix’s hit romantic drama has centered around the corresponding book in the Bridgerton book series from author Julia Quinn, season 3 is charting a new course in order to give fans of Colin and Penelope the chance to see their love story play out a season sooner than expected.
The move was first hinted at following the release of season 2, but has since been confirmed by Penelope Featherington herself, Nicola Coughlan, who shared the exciting news with fans during an FYSEE panel on May 15.
Which book will Bridgerton season 3 be based on?
Instead of following the third book in the Bridgerton book series, An Offer from a Gentleman, which tells the story of Benedict Bridgerton, the creative team behind Netflix’s hit series has decided to instead base season 3 on the fourth book in the series, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.
In the book, fans finally get to see Colin and Penelope’s story play out which is something fans are sure to appreciate given how beloved Polin has become.
Given we know season 3 will follow the fourth book in the Bridgerton series, it’s going to be interesting to see which book season 4 will follow. It’s not yet known if season 4 will follow book 3 or if Benedict’s story could be shelved for season 5 or beyond.
Bridgerton seasons 1 & 2 are streaming now on Netflix. Season 3 is expected to arrive sometime in 2023.
