Bling Empire season 2 is chockfull of drama, but perhaps the biggest scandal to come out of the new season is what we learn about Cherie Chan and Jessey Lee’s relationship.

During the first season, we knew that Cherie wanted to get married really badly. She and Jessey already had two children together and Cherie was pushing for marriage. But Jessey kept stalling for some reason. By the end of season 1, Cherie had enough and proposed to Jessey herself.

It looked like Bling Empire season 2 would focus on wedding planning with an eventual ceremony, but that didn’t happen. Cherie and Jessey announced they were leaving the show before season 2 aired, although they did still appear in a few episodes. Their relationship quickly became the subject of heavy scrutiny after a rumor started to circulate. So let’s break down what happened.

Did Cherie Chan and Jessey Lee get married in Bling Empire season 2?

No. We do get to see Cherie planning the wedding, but the two do not actually tie the knot on the show. However, they did reportedly get married finally in a secret ceremony, according to an exclusive from E! News released in February 2022.

From the outlet:

"The newlyweds just broke the news that they secretly tied the knot on Sept. 8, 2021 at the Château de Saran castle in Champagne, France. It was a very small, intimate ceremony due to COVID restrictions with only eight guests. They plan to hold a big wedding at a later date so their families can attend."

On Cherie’s Instagram, she shared a post about her wedding and seemed to make a subtle dig at her former cast members about how they started digging into her past.

Here’s what she wrote:

"Don’t be friends with people who try to hurt your family, kids, and close friends.I will protect you always. It’s ok to marry, fall in love, have kids, divorce, marry again, we should always celebrate love and be there for one another."

Of course it’s okay to get married, divorce and marry again. But the thing that caused a stir on Bling Empire is the rumor that Cherie and Jessey might have gotten together while he was still married to another woman.

Who is Crystal Hoang and how does she tie in?

Early in season 2, Jamie Xie was talking to a friend, Leah Qin, who told her that Jessey has an ex-wife and had two children with her. The news is a big blow to the group as Cherie had never revealed her past to anyone. Kane Lim, one of Cherie’s closest friends, takes it particularly hard as he feels hurt that Cherie never told him. Leah makes it sound like Jessey left his wife for Crystal.

Now, there is no concrete evidence that I know of that Cherie cheated with Jessey. But there were a lot of rumors about it on the show. A few people speculated that Jessey was not actually divorced from Crystal and that’s why he was taking so long to get married. That doesn’t seem to be the case since Cherie and Jessey did eventually get married.

Bustle created a timeline of Cherie and Jessey’s relationship and it looks like Jessey and Crystal got married in 2011 and then Jessey filed for divorce in spring/summer 2015. He started dating Cherie in fall of that same year. The divorce wasn’t affirmed until 2019 and then fall 2019 Cherie proposed. In 2021, they started wedding planning and Jessey later (finally) proposed to Cherie. Then we know they got married in September 2021.

Based on that timeline, it looks like everything is mostly aboveboard, so to speak.

But the plot thickens.

Some Reddit sleuths found a post shared by Crystal on her Instagram. It shows a photograph of Crystal and Cherie together. It’s from January 2015, while Crystal and Jessey were still together and married (before the divorce filing).

In the comments section, Crystal wrote:

"[H]ere’s when she was trying to befriend me when she was really trying to hook up with my husband"

That makes it sound like Cherie intentionally tried to coerce Jessey away from his ex, and of course, Jessey would be complicit too, if they were going behind Crystal’s back. That said, we don’t know that page is confirmed to be Crystal’s, although it looks legitimate. All of this is still very much gossip and hearsay, so take it all with a grain of salt.

Considering Cherie and Jessey left the show, we’ll probably never for sure what happened between all three of them.

Next. Who are Anna Shay's parents?. dark
