Best animated shows on Netflix: Avatar the Last Airbender
Avatar: The Last Airbender is actually not a Netflix Original animated series. It was a Nickelodeon show that aired for three seasons from 2005 to 2008. Co-created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, with Aaron Ehasz serving as head writer, Avatar has claimed its place in the animation hall of fame. The show created a long-lasting legacy and still considered by many to be one of the best shows of all time, and certainly one of the best animated shows of all time.
The series spawned games, novels, comics and even a spinoff series that was equally adored called The Legend of Korra. And soon, Netflix will be producing a live-action version of the show that is a anticipated addition to the streaming service’s roster. But until we get the new series, you’re currently able to watch all three seasons of Avatar on the platform. It’s not clear how long that deal will last since Netflix is just licensing the show, I would jump on it ASAP.
For those unfamiliar, Avatar: The Last Airbender is set in an Asiatic-inspired world dived into four nations, Air, Wind, Fire and Water. Each tribe represents a natural element with “benders” gifted the ability to control and manipulate said element. Only the Avatar masters all four elements. But then the Fire Nation tries to conquer the world and only the Avatar can stop them.
