It feels like forever since we last saw our favorite karate kids on the silver screen in Cobra Kai season 4. The last season threw so many twists and turns at us in the finale, we’re still processing everything that went down! With so many questions leading into Cobra Kai season 5, fans have been at the edge of their seats just waiting for any crumb of news for the new episodes. Well finally, we have exciting news, friends! We just got the Cobra Kai season 5 release date.

Considering filming wrapped for Cobra Kai season 5 in late 2021 before Cobra Kai season 4 was even released, we were under the impression that it wouldn’t be long until we got the next installment. Unlike other Netflix shows like The Witcher or Stranger Things which require a lot of special effects in post-production, Cobra Kai isn’t like that. So while it might make sense for season 5 to come out around Dec. 2022 just to make it a year since season 4 came out, we were hoping that it’d come far sooner.

So we have good and bad news, Cobra Kai fans. We don’t have to wait until Dec. 2022 for season 5, but we do have to wait a bit longer…

Cobra Kai season 5 release date

Netflix announced during their Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival this week that Cobra Kai season 5 will be released on Sept. 9, 2022. Okay, so that isn’t terrible. But we’re still disappointed we’ll have to wait four more months to see Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) back at it again!

Cobra Kai season 5 teaser trailer

We have more good news, though, as Netflix also dropped a teaser trailer along with the release date. Check out the first footage of Cobra Kai season 5 below! It looks intense.

Though Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) goes to Mexico City at the end of season 4 to find his father, it looks like we will definitely be seeing more of him in season 5. Thank goodness! Johnny and Robbie are still on good terms which is amazing, though we’re sure their newfound relationship won’t be without mishaps. This teaser is awesome!

Cobra Kai season 5 synopsis

Netflix also shared a synopsis in the description of the teaser trailer:

"Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Terry Silver is expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help."

We cannot wait for Cobra Kai season 5! The countdown has officially begun.
