Netflix shows to watch for Mother’s Day 2022

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (2016)

There’s just no way you can’t include Gilmore Girls on a list of shows to watch for Mother’s Day. The show includes one of the best on-screen mother-daughter duos. I mean, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. Need I say more? Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is a revival of the original series titled Gilmore Girls that aired from 2000 to 2007 on The WB. It’s set 10 years after the finale of the original series and follows Lorelai and Rory as they navigate current life situations. Sadly, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was a miniseries, so we likely won’t see its return. However, I think there’s a good chance we’ll see another revival with a different name in the future.

Sweet Magnolias (2020)

Sweet Magnolias follows the lives of three best friends as they navigate and juggle romance, careers, and their families while living in the fictional town of Serenity. The show might not necessarily focus on the women and their kids, but the relationships are still very important to the story. Fortunately, there will be a Sweet Magnolias season 3. So give the drama series a watch when you get the chance!

One Day at a Time (2017)

One Day at a Time is another series that shows a great mother-daughter duo. The story follows a newly single Latina mom (Justina Machado) as she tries to raise her teen daughter and son (Isabella Gomez and Marcel Ruiz) with the help of her “old-school” mother (Rita Moreno). When the show premiered on Netflix in 2017, it received critical acclaim and was even listed as one of the best TV shows of 2017. It also won several accolades over its run, including two Emmy Awards. We highly recommend checking out this feel-good and goofy series on Netflix!

Country Comfort (2021)

Country Comfort didn’t get a chance to show the world what it could be because it was canceled shortly after the first and only season premiered. Smash‘s Katharine McPhee stars as Bailey, an aspiring country singer who takes on a job as a nanny to a widower after she’s kicked out of her band by her boyfriend. Eddie Cibrian, Ricardo Hurtado, Jamie Martin Mann, Griffin McIntyre, Shiloh Verrico, and Pyper Braun star alongside McPhee in the comedy series. It’s funny, heartfelt, and definitely a show you should be watching with your mom this Mother’s Day.

Ginny and Georgia (2021)

Ginny and Georgia is literally a show about a mother and daughter relationship, albeit dysfunctional. The story begins with a 30-year-old woman named Georgia moving her and her two kids (Ginny and Austin) to a New England town for a fresh start. While watching the show, you might find similarities to your relationship with your own mother, especially while growing up. The amazing cast includes Brianne Howey, Antonia Gentry, Diesel La Torraca, Jennifer Robertson, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Scott Porter, and Raymond Ablack. We promise you and your mom will absolutely love this show!
