The Pentaverate parents guide (Is The Pentaverate safe to watch with your kids?)
By Mads Lennon
Mike Myers fans know the actor favors silly, offbeat and often surreal comedy in his projects, including movies like The Love Guru, Austin Powers and Wayne’s World. His new Netflix series The Pentaverate (premiering Thursday, May 5) will feature much of the same humor.
If you’re hoping to get a clearer sense of what content awaits you in the first season’s six episodes, we’ve created this helpful parents guide to provide you with clarity regarding the season’s age rating and mature content including whether the season contains any nudity, drug use or violence that might not be suitable for younger audiences.
What is The Pentaverate age rating?
The Pentaverate has an age rating of TV-MA, an age rating that is assigned to programs intended to be viewed by mature, adult audiences and are not recommended for individuals under 17.
According to TV parental guidelines, programs that receive a rating of TV-MA often contain at least one of the following: crude indecent language, explicit sexual activity or graphic violence. In the case of The Pentaverate, the show’s TV-MA rating is reportedly the result of almost all of the above.
Is there nudity in The Pentaverate?
Yes, the show does have nudity in it, although it’s not yet clear how graphic or frequent that nudity is. Based on some of Myers’ previous projects, I would guess the nudity isn’t that gratuitous and is mainly used for gags and comedic effect rather than sexual activity, especially since the maturity rating indicates nudity, but not explicit sex scenes.
Is there drug use in The Pentaverate?
Most likely, yes. Based on the maturity rating on the title’s official Netflix page, the show is rated TV-MA partly because of “substances,” so there is probably drug and alcohol usage in the series.
Are there any frightening scenes in The Pentaverate?
The comedy is rated TV-MA for violence and suicide, so there might be comedic violence shown on-screen. Myers is known for his slapstick comedy so the violence is probably played for laughs.
