Clark is an upcoming Swedish crime thriller series coming to Netflix this Friday, May 5. Fans of Bill Skarsgard are eager to see how the talented actor transforms himself into infamous gangster Clark Olofsson, the man credited for popularizing the term “Stockholm syndrome” after he participated in the Norrmalmstorg robbery and made many of his hostages fall for him along with most of Sweden.

Netflix has seen great success when it comes to crime dramas, just look to series like Narcos, Ozark and more. It looks like this show will be another impressive addition to the line-up, bolstered by a strong performance from Skarsgard.

What Netflix series Clark starring Bill Skarsgard about?

The six-episode drama is loosely based on Olofsson’s autobiography and will feature his early years leading up to present-day. Olofsson became so notorious that he has even been referred to as a “celebrity gangster.” Despite being sentenced to multiple prisons all over Europe, he managed to escape and commit robberies over and over again.

As for Bill Skarsgard, he is best known for his now-iconic portrayal of Pennywise in the Stephen King saga It. He also stars in the Netflix film The Devil All the Time and was part of the psychological drama series Castle Rock from Stephen King and J.J. Abrams.

The internationally-acclaimed Jonas Åkerlund directs. Of the series, he says:

"Clark is the story about the most politically incorrect man, who lived the most politically incorrect life. These are the kinds of stories I always look for. It’s an ultra-violent, witty, emotional, real and surreal biography to put a face to the name Stockholm Syndrome, but it isn’t just about the Norrmalmstorg Robbery. It’s about his whole life and what made him who he is, the truth and lies of his incredible career. Bill Skarsgard is the perfect match for this and he will bring the Stockholm Syndrome to the role. And Netflix is the perfect platform, they are not just the biggest streaming service, they also have the boldness to tell this incredible story."

Throughout the series, we’ll see Olofsson begin his criminal career and become one of Sweden’s most controversial personalities. The show follows his numerous crimes, including assault, theft, attempted murder, and the failed bank robbery that led to the idea of Stockholm Syndrome. Because despite everything Olofsson did, his charm and charisma kept making people fall in love with him.
