Netflix’s popular crime drama Ozark had a lot to tie up with its final episodes that just premiered today, April 29, including Ruth Langmore’s (Julia Garner) plan to avenge her cousin Wyatt’s death, Wendy Byrde’s (Laura Linney) dad Nathan Davis (Richard Thomas) still looking for his son Ben (Tom Pelphrey), and of course, we needed to find out whether or not the Byrdes would finally leave their life of money laundering for once and for all.

The final seven episodes are a wild ride, and we’re sure the ending will receive divisive reactions.

Spoilers ahead for Ozark season 4 part 2.

As mentioned, a big part about the final episodes is the fact that Ben is dead and only a select few know that. Nathan is still adamant on finding him, understandably, and he hires a private investigator named Mel (Adam Rothenberg) in season 4 part 1 to help him. Fans will remember that Wendy has Ben killed in season 3 to protect herself and her family once he starts becoming a liability, which is a terrible thing to do. Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) and Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) can’t believe it when they find out, while Ruth is left completely heartbroken.

It was a big choice on the writers’ part to have Ben be killed off-screen, with many fans holding out hope that maybe he doesn’t die after all. Of course, if we don’t see the body, anything is possible. But that theory is pretty much debunked in season 4 part 1, when we see Ben’s ashes. That said, you’d imagine our surprise when season 4 part 2 episode 3 opens up, and we see Ben appear.

Is Ben in Ozark season 4 part 2?

That’s right, Ben is in Ozark season 4 part 2! Despite him dying in season 3, he makes a surprise appearance. However, he’s not resurrected from the dead but instead, we get to see him in a flashback sequence to open up the episode. Yup, we finally get to watch his death scene.

We watch as the Navarro hitman Nelson (Nelson Bonilla) confronts Ben in the parking lot of a restaurant, and Ben immediately knows what’s up. He says he won’t say anything about Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer), but Nelson orders him to get into the SUV by gunpoint. They drive, and Ben starts to beat himself up, asking Nelson to apologize to Wendy for him. He remembers their childhood, saying how Wendy was the only person who loved him. Despite knowing his fate, Ben says he forgives Wendy.

“This is a dream,” Ben says as his final words before Nelson shoots and kills him.

It’s such a chilling scene considering everything that happened to Ben, and we’re really sad it had to end that way. Throughout Ozark season 4 part 2, we see Wendy struggle with her decision, though she ultimately defends it by saying her whole family would get killed if they didn’t get rid of Ben. She does take the blame, though, especially after Ruth blames herself.
