Everyone is anticipating the third and final season of Dead to Me. Luckily, we have some great news to share with you regarding Dead to Me season 3, and this piece of information brings us one step closer to the show’s release on Netflix.

Dead to Me was one of the many Netflix original series greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. After being renewed for a third and final season in July 2020, the show had to delay production until late spring 2021. Filming started in May 2021 and was expected to wrap that August. But after Christina Applegate announced her health diagnosis in August, it was revealed that filming had been put on pause months prior.

Eventually, production started back up before the end of 2021, and then the cast and crew went on break for the holidays. At the start of 2022, there were only three weeks of production left. It was unclear when the cast and crew would finish the last bits of filming, though.

In February 2022, actress Diana Maria Riva posted a photo of herself on set of Dead to Me season 3 holding a clapperboard on her Instagram page with a caption reading, “And that, Ladies & Gentlemen, is a series final wrap for Det. Perez. So grateful to have been a part of this… So excited for you all to see this story play out. Big love to my #DTM family!!!”

Many of us immediately assumed that filming had wrapped completely. But it looks like Riva was just done with her parts in the final season because creator Liz Feldman just recently shared an update on where the show is in the filmmaking process.

Dead to Me season 3 officially wraps filming

On April 25, Liz Feldman posted a photo of a chair with the Dead to Me logo on it on her Instagram page with a caption reading, “That’s a wrap on @deadtome S3! Filming is complete. Editing is underway. The final season is coming. And holy shit… #christinaapplegate @lindacardellini @james_marsden @sammccarthy02 @thatlukeroessler @dianamariariva @brandonoscott @notreallysuzy all knock it out of the park. So excited for you to see it.”

Dead to Me season 3 release updates

With this latest filming update, it totally throws out a May release. But it keeps up with our initial release date prediction of sometime this summer. We’re probably looking at the show spending about three to four months in post-production. This puts a release date somewhere between July to August.

There is a chance we could see Dead to Me season 3 later in the year, but we’re hoping to see the final season sooner rather than later. The good news is that we’ll definitely be seeing the series conclusion by the end of 2022.

You can count on us to share the official release date as soon as Netflix announces it. Make sure to stay tuned to Netflix Life for any new updates on Dead to Me season 3!
