Back in March 2021, it was revealed by Deadline that Netflix had struck an impressive $30 million deal for the movie distribution rights to Monkey Man, the directorial debut of Oscar nominee Dev PatelHere’s everything we know about the upcoming movie!

Does Monkey Man have a release date?

Currently, Monkey Man does not have an official Netflix release date, however, given that they completed filming the movie and entered post-production on March 12, 2021, we don’t think we have that much time left until the Dev Patel-directed movie reaches our screens.

According to IMDb, the movie is set to premiere on the streaming platform in 2022, however, a specific date has yet to be provided by the streamer. Our best bet is that the movie will be added to Netflix’s vast library sometime in the summer of 2022 at the earliest, or at the latest during the last quarter of 2022. Stay tuned for an official release date!

Monkey Man cast

The upcoming action thriller movie has a stellar cast attached. As well as directing, writing, and producing the project, Dev Patel, who is best known for starring in Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and The Green Knight (2021), will also star in the movie as an “ex-convict seeking revenge on those who wronged him in the past.”

Monkey Man synopsis

IMDb has provided us with a brief synopsis of what to expect from Dev Patel’s directorial debut, which reads:

"“A recently released ex-felon living in India struggles to adjust to a world of corporate greed and eroding spiritual values.”"

Is there a Monkey Man trailer?

At the moment, there isn’t an official trailer for Monkey Man. This is because, as mentioned, the Dev Patel project is still believed to be in post-production. Typically post-production lasts between six to eight months. Of course, this is not always the case, though. Sometimes, depending on the level of special effects needed to be added in post, the overall time period could be extended.

However, we don’t think we’ll be waiting much longer for a teaser trailer to drop now that we’re potentially nearing its Netflix release.
