Is Regé-Jean Page in Bridgerton season 3? New bombshell rumor claims so

When Bridgerton first premiered on Netflix back in Dec. 2020 and became an instant hit, leads Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton) and Regé-Jean Page (Simon Basset) were catapulted to stardom overnight. And while fans were happy to see Dynevor reprise her role for a few scenes in the highly-anticipated second season which came out this year, everyone was heartbroken knowing that Page would not appear.

The Netflix series made an official announcement in 2021 that the heartthrob actor would not return for Bridgerton season 2, though they did not give a reason at the time. But even though we all knew he wouldn’t be on our screens in the Regency Era again, his absence still stung as we binged the new episodes in March. As fans know, we’re in it for the long haul with this series as multiple Bridgerton seasons and even spinoffs have been announced. Could Page ever return in some capacity?

Will The Duke (Regé-Jean Page) be in Bridgerton season 3?

There hasn’t been much buzz about Page returning to Bridgerton at all, but I guess we can say “never say never” because a new rumor says he’ll appear in the upcoming season 3! Wouldn’t that be amazing? Well, take this rumor with a grain of salt because there doesn’t seem to be any reputable source relaying this information. The rumor came from the Twitter account for Boohoo, a clothing company.

This week, the Boohoo Twitter shared images of Page in the Netflix show and wrote: “PSA It’s been rumoured that The Duke will return for season 3 of Bridgerton.” The brand did not cite any sources as to where they found that information. See the tweet below.

Of course, this quick rumor was enough to send fans of the Netflix Original into a frenzy at the possibility that Page could return. At this time, however, it’s simply a rumor and we aren’t sure either way on its validity.

Rumors like this about Netflix stars have come about before. In 2021, the website Journal took to their Instagram account to share that You stars Victoria Pedretti and Dylan Arnold were dating, though they did not link to any source or explain where they heard the rumor. That one did, however, turn out to be true.

Why did Regé-Jean Page leave Bridgerton?

Reportedly, as it came out later, Page had only signed for one season of Bridgerton, leaving him open to decide whether or not he’d come back to the show. While speaking to Variety, he explained that he felt his time on the show was over:

"“I have nothing but excitement for Bridgerton continuing to steam train off and conquer the globe. But there is also value in completing these arcs and sticking the landing.”"

Of course, Page is a certified star now and is expected to return to Netflix for The Russo Brothers movie The Gray Man, which comes out in 2022. After that, he’ll appear in the Dungeons & Dragons movie.

Fingers crossed we’ll see Regé-Jean Page return to Bridgerton at some point in the future, but if we don’t, at least we know he’s not going anywhere.
