Manifest season 4 and more sci-fi Netflix shows coming in 2022

There are tons of popular Netflix shows returning with new seasons in 2022, and we’re excited about every new release. But it seems like Netflix shows of the science fiction genre are taking over this year, and we’re not complaining!

Most of the sci-fi shows coming back this year are long-awaited series, and fans have waited patiently for their arrival. There have been a couple of updates here and there, but everyone has been waiting for the major update, the release date announcements.

Fortunately, Netflix has constantly been announcing release dates for these highly anticipated Netflix shows, and fans can now start preparing for their release.

The sci-fi lineup looks very promising with the expected releases of Manifest season 4, Locke and Key season 3, The Umbrella Academy season 3 and many others.

Sci-fi Netflix shows coming in 2022

Not all the shows on this list have official release dates yet, but they are expected to arrive sometime this year. To kick off the list, we’ll start with the show that we can never get enough of, Manifest.

Manifest season 4

I don’t think much needs to be said about Manifest other than the fact that it’s one of the best Netflix original series, and if you haven’t watched it yet, you’re missing out! Initially, it was an NBC show before the network canceled the series after only three seasons. Luckily, our favorite streamer eventually saw the show’s potential and picked up the sci-fi series for a fourth and final season. The story begins with the passengers and crew of a plane who suddenly reappear after mysteriously disappearing for five and a half years. Netflix has not handed out a release date yet, but rumor has it that the first batch of episodes of Manifest season 4 could arrive on Netflix in November.

Locke and Key season 3

Locke and Key is one of those series that once you start watching, you just have to see through to the end. It’s based on the comic book series titled the same name by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez. Locke and Key tells the story of the Locke family who return to their ancestral home after the patriarch is murdered. But this house isn’t your ordinary house. It’s filled with dark doors and reality-bending keys to open them. Once the Locke family moves in, they quickly find out that there’s a demonic entity with a mission of its own. Locke and Key season 3 does not have an exact release date yet, but Netflix announced that it will arrive later this year.

The Umbrella Academy season 3

One of Netflix’s biggest releases coming this year would have to be The Umbrella Academy season 3. After almost a two-year wait, fans will finally get to see the third season. Both seasons 1 and 2 did very well on the streamer and received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers alike. We’re expecting the third season to do just as well. The Umbrella Academy season 2 ended on a shocking cliffhanger, so we can’t wait to see how the story will continue in the third season. Get ready because The Umbrella Academy season 3 is coming to Netflix on June 22!

Stranger Things season 4

Stranger Things season 4 is probably the most highly-anticipated release on Netflix this year. The science fiction series is created by the incredibly talented Duffer Brothers and has seen much success over its run. It has launched many young, rising actors into stardom like Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, and others. The first season centered around the disappearance of a young boy and the appearance of a strange girl with psychokinetic abilities. Fans can’t wait to be dropped back into the Stranger Things world, and the wait is almost over. The fourth season is split into two volumes, with the first volume being released on May 27 and the second volume arriving on July 1.

Alice in Borderland season 2

Before there was Squid Game, there was Alice in Borderland. Although the shows aren’t exactly the same, they both center around characters trying to survive dangerous games. Sadly, Alice in Borderland didn’t receive as much success as Squid Game, but the show still managed to do well for itself. Just two weeks after the first season was released on Netflix, the streamer decided to renew the series for a second season. Netflix has not announced the exact release date for Alice in Borderland season 2, but it’s confirmed to be coming in December.
