Slumberland starring Jason Momoa is slated to arrive on Netflix sometime this year, and we’ve created a guide with all the important details about the original movie that we’re so excited to share with you.

Slumberland is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay co-written by David Guion and Michael Handelman. It is based on the comic book series named Little Nemo in Slumberland by Winsor McCay. Chernin Entertainment produced the film.

You might know Lawrence from his director work on I Am Legend and some of The Hunger Game films. Guion and Handelman previously worked together on Night at the Museum: The Secret Tomb. This is the second time Lawrence and Momoa have worked together. They first collaborated on the Apple+ original series See.

Slumberland release date

On Aug. 24, 2022, Netflix announced the Slumberland starring Jason Momoa will be released on Friday, Nov. 18. The film’s release comes just a week before the Thanksgiving holiday and will surely be a big hit with families during the holiday celebrations.

Principal photography wrapped on the film in May 2021, and the film was in post-production for about 11 months as of April 20, 2022. Since this is a fantasy film, it’s not surprising that the film took a long time in post-production. There’s a lot of CGI and other special effects that require some serious editing before it’s ready for viewing.

We had been hoping for a summer release, but Netflix holding the film until the fall near the holiday season makes a ton of sense for the family flick .

Jason Momoa leads the cast as Flip, a half-man, half-monster and Marlow Barkley plays Nemo, an 11-year-old girl in search of her late father.

"A young girl discovers a secret map to the dreamworld of Slumberland, and with the help of an eccentric outlaw, she traverses dreams and flees nightmares, with the hope that she will be able to see her late father again."
