Anatomy of a Scandal season 2 updates: Will there be another season?
By Mads Lennon
Anatomy of a Scandal is a new British anthology series based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Sarah Vaughan. Released today, Friday, April 15, on Netflix, the courtroom drama is likely to thrill viewers around the world over the weekend. Is Anatomy of a Scandal season 2 happening?
Starring Rupert Friend, Sienna Miller, Michelle Dockery, Josette Simon and Naomi Scott, this six-episode thriller centers on a political sex scandal plaguing a member of Parliament. James Whitehouse (Friend) is accused of rape by his former mistress Olivia Lytton (Scott). The accusation rocks the entire conservative party with a far-reaching ripple effect.
While the first season has received mixed-to-poor reviews from critics, most agree that the show is undeniably entertaining and easy to watch. If it gets a lot of views after premiering on Netflix, it would be easy to see the streamer renewing it for another season.
Created by David E. Kelley and Michelle James Gibson, Anatomy of a Scandal is designed as an anthology, meaning every season would revolve around a new scandal.
Anatomy of a Scandal season 2 renewal status
As of writing this article on April 14, there is no news regarding the show’s renewal status. Netflix usually takes a couple of months to decide if a series will receive additional seasons. We should find out about the fate of this show over the summer.
Anatomy of a Scandal season 2 release date predictions
The first season filmed from October 2020 to somewhere around February or March 2021. Post-production for a project like this one would have taken about three months, with two weeks delegated to each of the six episodes, meaning the project should have been completed by July or August 2021. The season released about eight months later.
Following a similar trajectory, if the show got renewed this summer, production probably would not start until late 2022 or early 2023, it would then take about eight months to produce another season (assuming the episode length stays the same). That means Netflix could have it ready to go by fall or early winter 2023, but in that scenario I estimate Netflix would release the season around spring of 2024, maybe earlier.
